People

Little brush sketches of people. By little, I mean they're only about 2-4" tall.

Rejects

These are a couple of rejected comps for a project in one of my classes. The assignment is to do a portrait of someone without showing their face. The first is my friend Andreas, but I don't know the second person, I just liked the photo. Not sure who to give credit to for the reference photos, but if someone knows, I'll link to them and give them proper thanks!

Pasadena Art & Design Open Market to Showcase World-Class Talent at One Colorado on Sunday, May 3, 2009

Over 100 Emerging Artists, Faculty and Alumni from Art Center College of Design and Pasadena City College to Sell Works of Art

PASADENA, Calif., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- One Colorado's bi-annual Art + Design Open Market will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2009, 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The one day event will host over 100 artists in the central Courtyard and pedestrian alleys, which is larger than any previous year.

The Open Market provides a rare opportunity for the public to interact with emerging and established artists from Pasadena's leading cultural institutions. It is especially unique in that all proceeds go directly to participating artists, thereby supporting individual careers and artistic expression.

Rochelle Branch, Pasadena's Cultural Affairs Manager, commented "The Art & Design Open Market is a perfect example of why Pasadena is such a strong draw for creativity in our region. We embrace opportunities for our own artists to be recognized and contribute to the economic vitality of the City."

Since its launch in 2003, the Open Market has provided visibility for more than 500 artists, and has served as a destination for thousands of art collectors and appreciators.

Participating institutions include Pasadena City College, which focuses on painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, photography and illustration, and Art Center College of Design, which has a long legacy of graduating artists and designers who have significantly influenced our culture. Art Center's participating students, faculty and alumni stem from a variety of the College's art and design disciplines including fine art, illustration, photography, transportation design, graphics, product design, film and entertainment design. The Open Market is presented in part by Pasadena Magazine and KPCC 89.3 FM.

One Colorado is located on Colorado Boulevard between Fair Oaks Avenue, Union Street and DeLacey Avenue in Pasadena. Convenient parking is located in the adjacent multi-level structure at Fair Oaks and Union.

RIP uhh... Ethyl Moldini

Born about 13 weeks ago, this wonderful woman met tragedy before her time early Monday March 30, 2009 at 1:28 am. This post will document the life and times of Ethyl Moldini.

Earlier, simpler times.

Ethyl at the prime of her life.

After suffering a sliced throat from heavy hair, there were drying issues resulting in what I thought may have been mold, but thought the problem was solved and carried on anyway. Tonight I noticed that the smell had worsened and I began suffering from swollen throat glands. I proceeded to attempt an emergency mastectomy:

but the mold had spread and I feared for my health as well, so she had to go.

I hope no one saw me dispose of the body.
